do you close for the season??
Delicious, fresh, and what a view!
It was good, seemed more like a fast food place than a restaurant. The Seafood Casserole had to much topping and Haddock and very little Shrimp, though the Scallops were perfectly cooked. The Lobster that was with the Surf and turf was cold
MoreFood is so so, but love the bar and our fab bartender Laurie!
Great views, good lobster.
There's nothing better than eating a freshly steamed lobster right next to the ocean that it came out of.
MoreWe visited Shaw's outside Wharf on a beautiful summer day. The setting out on the dock overlooking the harbor was magnificent. We watched Lobster men working. In addition the food was excellent. Cooked golden like instead of over burnt Grease the food was phenomenal. I would go there again and recommend.
MoreThe service has declined over the years as have the long lines waiting to order. The food is still fresh and delicious.
MoreAwesome place! Fantastic food! Had the lobster roll & coconut shrimp and it was amazing!
MoreYummy fried seafood! A fathers day tradition.
The fish sandwich was good but the Crab roll was lacking in flavor.
I always find myself going back here year after year when visiting Maine during the summer. The place has a wonderfully tricky angled driveway (don't park there if you are taking the hardy boat!) and plenty of parking. The restaurant itself sits in a small cove in a an active fishing area with small boats coming and going. Ordering is interesting as you go up to a desk, ask for what you want, they give you a number and then call that number later. Food consists of sea food with a small selection of salads, steaks and hamburgers. Price is a little high for some of the non-seafood options, but the taste is pretty good across all options. We have tried lobster, crab cakes, steaks plus their salads. There is no service past picking up your food, so keep that in mind if you're looking for a different experience. I like going here because it is quiet and off the beaten trail enough to avoid at least some of the tourists. Recommended.
MoreSo here's the thing - I don't like seafood. I don't like the smell of seafood. So how was the food at the lobster restaurant? My steak (rib eye?) was quite good. The French fries were good and there were more than enough. The salad was good enough. The roll should have been heated. Hard to complain about this meal of steak at a lobster restaurant. The folks who ate lobster thoroughly enjoyed them.Overall, if say Shaw's was a good choice.
MoreVery fair pricing, friendly staff, nice view of the harbor
This hidden gem provides some of the best local seafood in the area, especially when it comes to lobster and clams. They also provide plenty of options for those who don't love seafood (like the steak bomb or cheeseburger) in a "take your order, call your number" type operation. All of this is very reasonably priced, while looking over a pristine working Maine harbor. With the views and food and atmosphere all combined, it is perhaps my favorite restaurant in the world.
MoreOne of the best seafood places in the area.
Delicious!! Amazing lobster, haddock, and clams! We will probably eat there every day of our stay!
MoreI had the haddock bites and peel and eat shrimp. The locals stick to the staples, which seem to be popular.
MoreFantastic food and great staff. Best fried Haddick sandwich in Maine! Calamari is superb. Portions are normally quite large.
MoreVery clean. Great view of working harbor. Extremely fast service. Lobster roll was huge and very well prepared. Clam chowder was tasty but mostly broth and very few clams or potatoes. Definitely would get the lobster roll next time there but not the chowder. As fried foods went by the servings look enormous. Definitely would go back.
MoreMy family and I normally go here every summer when we visit Maine so we went out to eat here the other night. It was relatively slow due to the bad weather and the food was mediocre. My biggest issue is it doesn’t seem the workers are following the covid-19 regulations. While there we only saw 2 workers wearing masks. None of the cooks wore masks and the girl who was taking everyone’s orders also wasn’t wearing a mask. We also had to wipe down our own table that was covered in crumbs. They did have tape markings on the floor to try and space out the customers by 6ft (not that anyone was following the markings). I understand masks are recommended here in Maine and not required but I would expect the people making and serving my food to be wearing masks to protect not only the customers but themselves as well.
MoreGreat food and beautiful view. I mean you’re eating on a lobster dock in the middle of a working harbor. If you’re having a beer here life is good.
MoreYou must experience Storm! GREAT oysters, can’t get them any fresher.
Some say it's the best seafood in Maine, but for those non seafood fans like myself it is still great. Large menu is good for everyone, beer selection is good, and the Maine feel to it with the salty air is refreshing. Not to mention the views are amazing!
MoreFantastic location, great beers.
Great place to get fresh lobster at a fair price.
Stopped here for lunch, we rode motorcycles up the coast, and spotted it as we were riding. Nice location, great views from the outdoor deck. Beer on tap was a plus. Walk up to an indoor window and ordered our lunch. Fried scallop roll was very tasty and a good number of scallops. Fries were decent. Clam chowder was broth, a good amount of clams and potatoes. We shared onion rings which were good. Other lunches were lobster pie and a seafood casserole. All in all a decent seafood lunch in a picturesque setting. Food was very good, not anything special compared to other places along the way. You won't go wrong eating here, especially in the off season - no long wait! I would recommend it if you are in the area.
MoreAmazing food, excellent service. A must eat at place
active pier with a launch point for whale, seal and puffin watching, serves classic Maine Seafood. Gets quite a bit of the Pemaquid lighthouse crowd.
MoreThis is a summer tradition, as a part of our Midcoast Maine pilgrimage. The food is unbelievably good, the location stunning. Come for the view, stay for the lobster!
MoreTasty food with generous portions and beautiful harbor setting
Fabulous local bar and restaurant! So much fun to watch the lobster boats come in to unload their boats. Great lobster! Love the staff too!
MoreLobster was a bit over cooked. Long wait. Beautiful views.
Great food in a casual atmosphere. Nice outdoor area.
I loved this place. it blends in perfectly with the fishing Hamlet where it's located and offers good views, comraderie.and fooy
MoreFood is good very pricey
Got the seafood casserole; the bisque was good but it was smothered with too much Italian bread crumbs.
MoreBest fried seafood. Clams are the the best. Great outdoor seating.
The lobster here is succulent and makes me extremely happy... So happy I gotta go to the ice cream place up the road on 130
MoreWe went middle of the afternoon so it wouldn't be too busy. There were 2 tables on the deck with folks eating, and one table inside with 3 eating their meals. Nobody was in line, and we waited 15 minutes at the window and nobody showed up. A young man in the back looked at us twice, and the third time said someone would be with us. We waited a few minutes to no avail, and then decided there are other places we can easily go to. WE LEFT! Honestly, over the years we have seen a decline and only returned this time because a friend had been and said how good it was, and clean. Clean yes....better we have no idea! To answer that we would have had to order meals, and nobody seemed to care enough to come to the window. We live here, and there are better places to go than Shaw's.
MoreThe people and ambiance make this place. When we went there was live music that really added to the fun of being at a local dive spot. Was told the lobster was good, albeit small. Non-fish options limited, but the onion rings are great.
MoreOne of Maine's hidden treasures. Working waterfront and local people highlight this eatery with a bar!
MoreWe always come back and make a special trip. It's that good! Good fresh seafood. Lobsters caught in local waters. Catch of the day fish!
MoreDon't go here! Ever! Especially if you are from away. The view sucks and people are horrible. Stay away tourists!
MoreI first came here in the '60s and'70s and loved the place. The view is still spectacular but the boiled lobster wasn't hot and the chowder was terrible. Still, later on, we had a lovely time at the bar below where the bartender introduced us to oyster shots with vodka. That made the trip back worthwhile.
MoreFresh lobster right out of the water.
If you haven't been to Shaw's Fish & Lobster Wharf you're missing out. Great food and the best views of lobster boats and a nice little harbor. Will be back next year. Thanks again for fresh seafood!
MoreThe best seafood in the us. Trust me I have been in every fine dining seafood restaurant they don’t hold a candle to this little gem.
More$23.00 for a lobster roll, whose quality and quantity is seriously compromised by the addition of lettuce? We’d gladly pay that and more for a fair and generous portion but this was a most disappointing lobster roll. They also put bacon in their clam chowder ... why? Fresh seafood isn’t interesting enough without adding pork?A most underwhelming dining experience and we won’t make this mistake twice
MoreFresh seafood with fabulous views from the tables on deck. Watched a lobster boat unload as we ate.
MoreGreat food which you can eat on a deck overlooking the water, or inside. Reasonable prices and nice sized portions. Ambiance is casual.
